Hotels for Seeing the Nestinari Fire Dancers

In early June, the nestinari dance barefoot on embers in the village of Bulgari, deep in the Strandzha: six hotels south of Burgas for attending this UNESCO-listed rite.

Nestinarstvo, barefoot dancing on embers during the feast of Saints Constantine and Helena in early June, is an ancestral rite of the Strandzha, inscribed by UNESCO on the Intangible Cultural Heritage list for its celebration in the village of Bulgari. The ritual takes place in the evening, far from the coastal hotels, so a car is essential, and staying south of Burgas shortens the drive back. In Chernomorets, Valchevi Apartments has an excursion booking service, a garden and parking. St. Nicholas Complex, in Tsarska Bay, rents out cars on site, as does Utopia Forest, a charming forest hotel with EV charging points. In the Kraimorie district, Boryana Hotel can arrange car hire. To unwind, Oleander Villa, with a pool and restaurant, and Vila Mihnevi, on a peninsula with five beaches, round off the selection.
