Hotels for Watching the Stork and Pelican Migration on the Via Pontica

In late summer, thousands of storks and pelicans fly over the Burgas lakes: six hotels near the Atanasovsko, Poda and Pomorie lagoons to watch them.

Burgas lies on the Via Pontica, one of Europe's great migration routes: every late summer, thousands of white storks and pelicans fly over its coastal lakes. For a front-row seat, Hotel Milano faces Lake Atanasovsko, with a garden and restaurant, 3 km from the centre. To the south, in the Kraimorie district, family-run Boryana Hotel, with a seasonal pool, sits near the Poda Nature Centre, a reserve well known to birdwatchers, as does the Kraymorie apartment, steps from the beach. On a budget, Hotel Park, with 143 rooms near Lake Park, is a short walk from the sea. To the north, the salt lagoon of Pomorie also attracts many birds: Complex Relax Pomorie and the five-star Grand Hotel Pomorie Medical Spa, with three outdoor pools, both sit between the lake and the beach. Don't forget your binoculars!
